Craft Ideas: What You Need For Christmas

Christmas is a time where people seem to have endless things-to-do. Some individuals have nonstop Christmas gatherings to attend. There are people who shop for Christmas presents like there is no tomorrow. While others are busy with different Christmas happenings, other people seem to be preoccupied with making their homes look beautiful for the upcoming celebration.

You might probably be one of them.

This time around, you planned differently. You want your Christmas decorations and gifts to be crafted by your own hands.

A common Christmas symbol is the “wreath.” Here are easy steps to follow for you to be able to come up with a handmade wreath:

1. Mold your wire coat hanger into a round shape.
2. Select from bread ties or strings that will serve as wreath branches. Attach your preferred would-be-branches into the round hanger. Do this until you have filled the wreath.
3. Adorn your wreath with colored ribbons or cords. In addition, others make use of paper flowers. There are those who surround their wreaths with Christmas lights. Be creative and experiment on positioning your choice of decoration around the wreath.
4. You can even have a colored-themed Christmas wreath. Perhaps, this year you can make it red and silver.

Hang wreaths on different parts of your home which will keep reminding you that Christmas is here.

You can also make handmade wreaths to give as Christmas presents to your loved ones.

Apart from wreaths, one good gift to give away to friends and loved ones is a handmade Christmas card – a painted one.

You need to prepare a blank white card, acrylic and glitter paint (color of your choice), calligraphy pens in different ink colors, assorted markers.

To create your own painted Christmas card, follow these steps:

1. With your choice of color, blend some acrylic paint into a sufficient amount of water. Make sure to mix it well.
2. Evenly paint the card with the acrylic paint. After doing so, dry it properly. You can make use of a blower to dry the card or let it dry under the sun. To ensure flatness of the card, insert the card in a book after you have dried it.
3. With the use of drawing and some decorating materials, adorn your card according to your preference. If you have an artistic hand, you can draw or hand-paint a stable with a Jerusalem-like setting. Additionally, you can trace figures into the card and paint its side to make it look like an outline. Otherwise, you can cut and paste Christmas figures.
4. Most Christmas cards have inscribed words on it; hence with the use calligraphy pens etch words on your card such as: “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Holidays.”

Try doing various Christmas card designs. Work out with several colors. You can vary the design and color basing on the receiver’s personality and preference. Since making painted Christmas card entails a lot of working time and particularity, it is best to involve family members on your Christmas craft project.

Although there seems to be never-ending things-to-do for most people during Christmas, the most important thing is sharing part of their time with individuals who are important to them. They may do it through Christmas shopping or attending Christmas gatherings.

On your part, it is doing Christmas crafts and sharing it with others - your way of conveying how much you have appreciated someone.
